NOTE: HAS BEEN DISSOLVEDThe Fund is being founded in Charlotte, North Carolina, out of the need expressed to the founders by those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. We are setting out to meet the pet care needs and services related for these clients, PLWHA (people living with HIV/AIDS). We have seen a significant rise in case of people coming forward that have no psychosocial support from family and friends and their pets are their main source of companionship and healing. Some persons, many in fact, on fixed incomes, facing rising medical costs have to choose between caring for themselves or their pets.Some people are making difficult choices and they should not have to. Some are homebound and need assistance with walking and grooming services. Many need financial assistance with reducing vet bills and food costs. We also hope to institute and adoption program for those that are able to have a pet and that can take care of one.We are seeking through private donations, fundraising and grant efforts a constant revenue source that will allow us to achieve these goals. We have also started seeking alliances with AIDS service organizations in the area in an effort to advertise the services and locate the most need worthy clients.If successful, we look to modeling this program in other cities.
