Neemtree Records was founded by AKS and Phanix, products of Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman's music conservatory, to promote all types of non-film music in India through albums and live performance. By providing musicians with the resources necessary for production and performance, Neemtree hopes to bring about a real creative freedom in music and establish an independent market for music as a whole in India. And being advocates of open exchange and collaboration in music, Neemtree boasts an impressive roster of upcoming artists from all across India as well as several artists from AR Rahman's institute.Musically, the sounds from the Neemtree camp can best be described as "diverse" and "avant-garde". The label believes in the practice of giving complete albums, where each song is as much a statement as the album taken in its entirety.
