Project Vana is the afforestation-with-data app. Vana helps businesses take action against the climate crisis by identifying available corporate-owned land, ideal for planting trees. Vana's open data platform has confirmed that corporates own over 130% of the right type of land to achieve afforestation targets in England alone, held in just 5% of total corporate landholdings. By connecting corporate entities with climate-activist groups, the land identified using the Vana system will be used to increase tree coverage in otherwise disused land. There is increasing expectation for companies to demonstrate efforts to offset their carbon emissions. By making land ownership more visible to business leads, Vana aims to utilise corporate landholdings as our best hope at achieving greater afforestation and reforestation, in our battle against the global climate emergency.
