Rifles to Rods is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization devoted to the transition, recovery and well being of our Veterans. At Rifles to Rods we use fishing as a therapeutic outlet to aid Veterans with their transition back into society.It is a well known fact that soldiers who are deployed make immeasurable sacrifices to serve our country. The lesser known fact is that those sacrifices continue once they are readjusting to civilian life. All too often our veterans struggle to find a coping mechanism just to make life feel normal.That is why the president of Rifles to Rods, a veteran himself, was inspired to start this charity after fishing enabled him to better cope with stress that comes with returning home from war.Focusing on a skill set along with the peace and tranquility of being on the water is a holistic means of healing. Fishing, paired with like minded people who have had similar experiences provides an alternative coping mechanism for veterans.
