His background includes having worked as first assistant to photographer Arthur Elgort from 1999-2003 and having served as production director at artist Maurizio Cattelan's Chelsea, NY experimental art space, Family Business Gallery.Ruy works regularly as producer, director, and post producer of video projects in genres including contemporary art, fashion, music, documentary, and short film; using the latest in high-resolution digital cinema technology in collaboration with directors including Ferdinando Verderi, David Sims, Craig McDean, Aaron Rose, Paris Kain, Clara Cullen, Alex Prager, Agostina Galvez and Casey Brooks; and with fashion brands including Louis Vuitton, Prada, Versace, Miu Miu, Fendi, Kenzo, Telfar Clemens, Tiffany & Co., Narciso Rodriguez, Vivienne Westwood, Dior Homme, Valentino, Brooks Brothers, Bergdorf Goodman and Nike; publications including The New York Times, Vogue Italia, Elle India, i-D Magazine, Vice, Nowness, and Garage Magazine; and art institutions including MoMA, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and The National Gallery.Ruy has directed documentary video projects with artists including Austin Lee, John Szlasa, Michael Hilsman, Kate Gilmore, Jacqueline Kiyomi Gork, Stephen O'Malley, and Oren Ambarchi; and is a frequent collaborator with the contemporary art collective DIS as producer, co-director, and post production director of videos.
