While advanced hydroponic systems can be intensive and expensive, simplified hydroponic growing has lower operational & maintenance costs. Greenhouse hydroponic farming can be technology and capital-intensive, but the rewards are ten fold in rich production, efficient water and land use, outstanding green environmental value and most employees only require basic agricultural skills.Plants can be provided with exactly the optimum food for that crop and it's stage of life, giving the best flavor and highest short term crop yields. Initially our project group focused on developing and testing small rooftop urban hydroponic systems, and small units suitable for growing food on apartment balconies, this project has extended into investigating and developing practical hydroponic farming production units that can be expanded to suit the requirements of small to medium scale commercial farming operations.
