Women in Localization Germany started off back in 2014. After a brief hiatus, the chapter has been regularly organizing events since 2016. Initially operating from Berlin, the team grew to include additional hubs in Munich (2019) and Cologne (2020). WLDE's mission is to support women across all German-speaking countries and to offer an open, collaborative and non-competitive space for professional exchange. The events, held in-person as well as online, make up the core of our activities and provide opportunities to learn about the latest trends in the localization industry, exchange experiences and ideas, and connect with other professionals. In the past, events have covered topics such as machine translation trends, localization in the travel sector, gender-inclusive language in localization, the impact of the pandemic on localization in the health care sector and many more.
