Woodland Folk is a nature exploration centre, a childcare facility offering child-led outdoor education. There are a number of ways in which children can access this provision, either during school holidays (2-11 years), full or half day care (2-5 years) or after school (5-11 years).At Woodland Folk we create a family atmosphere, with only 24 children in the setting at any one time, enabling all adults and children to get to know each other. Spending 70-80% of the time outside, these relationships will strengthen through problem solving, frustration, supporting, empathising and team work. The children set the agenda, following their interests, the things that "grab" them, whilst the adults give space and facilitate to allow the children to take their own learning to the next level. The aim is to create a home from home, with real furniture and a community spirit in which children can learn and flourish at their own pace. It is a space where the children explore when they are inquisitive, drink when they are thirsty, learn whilst they are investigative and rest when they are tired!
